“Yes, I Am Coming Soon!” Those Words Which Sing the Truth of Christmas

 

In the days leading up to Christmas, at the Magnificat for Vespers there is the singing of seven antiphons, one each day, the initials of which form an acrostic

    “Ero cras” “Tomorrow I will be there”

    In Latin: Sapientia, Adonai, Radix, Clavis, Oriens, Rex, Emmanuel

    They go back to the time of Pope Gregory the Great, around the year 600

    The Nativity of Him who “for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven.”
